I first saw this image a year ago on a random search for stained glass angels for a drawing reference. I kept searching for it on and off since then and now I finally found it. And it was well worth the effort.
The perspective is dizzying and challenging to make work, but you did it perfectly. The glass wings are incredibly detailed and I love how they seem to glow. This image really resonated with me, not only for the artistic daring, but also for showing some love for a long-neglected part of religious artwork -- that of stained glass. It's incredibly beautiful and is so often neglected in a shocking amount of artwork that borrows from Christian themes, much as MTG does. The beauty of these wings bring and ethereal fragility to the image that only underlies the danger of the young woman in the picture. Will they keep her aloft, or will those wings break in midflight? It still makes me wonder and that is how you know an artwork is truly amazing. How this has not yet won a DD is beyond me.
Have you seen the ratings and the comments for the Gift Of Orzhova card on The Gatherer? That's ALL YOU, BAAAYBEEEE!!!! *ALL* YOU!!!! Without your BREATHTAKING contribution, the card's listing would have only complaints and 1.5 stars. YOU. DID. GOOD!!!
This is absolutely amazing. I love the lighting, I love the point of view, I love the colors, and I love the concept. This artwork literally took my breath away for a moment. Absolutely stunning. Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece.
