Parcel (unfinished) - Page 18/28 by algenpfleger Parcel (unfinished) - Page 18/28 by algenpfleger
Hey!

So I've decided to upload this unfinished manga-styled comic that I did earlier this year. It's an idea that was quite close to my heart at the time and that I needed to get off my chest. However, working it out and turning it into a short story took two months and during those two months my life transformed a lot (due to unrelated factors) and what happened was that before I was done I had lost all connection to it - I still felt the story, but while when I had started working on it I had this urge to get it out, two months later I really needed to leave it behind in the process of growing as a person. Now I look back at it and think how terribly sappy and emotional and cheesy it is, but I know how much it meant to me at some point, so I will share it for everybody who might currently be in a phase where they can connect to it.

The ending is slightly rushed and the whole thing is missing background inks and screentones, but all the core elements are there. So please read it if you're interested, and let me know what you think or if it induced some feels.

Read from right to left.

I've been reading this all out of order, but even without tones or many backgrounds, the art is still quite expressive, which I find very interesting... I've gotten rather caught up in the story, too, and want to know more!

Okay, I totally love your story so far. I get mixed feelings by reading it, but mostly it strucks me with fear. Being artist means to do creative stuff, and thats pretty much the only thing i want to do for living, as a ordinary job would be just be "a waste of time". What frightens me the most is the feeling of being at home alone all day doing work(and being poor). Thus I had a period where I was meeting friends and going out a couple of weeks. It was nice experience and it surely changed me as a person, but soon I noticed, that you dont get to reach any goals doing it. Being a dancer or a singer makes you interact with people naturally and somehow I envy those kind of people, because of it. I came to the conclusion, that learning the draft first, sacrificing most of your time is quite unavoidable. And after the training time, hopefully meeting up with friends and people sharing your interests and going to events/exhibitions, balancing between work and social life.
I really have the opinion that effort will pay off in the future.
And Iīm quite curious about what made you distance yourself so much from the story. Canīt wait for the conclusion of it.

It's really good so far! I like how you ease into the story, a lot of new comic book artists just throw an epic scale of information and info dumping in the first few pages, but you do it very smoothly and the protagonist is quite relatable. Slice of life stories are difficult to make interesting and yet you pulled it off so nicely. Good storytelling!

As for the art, I can't critique at all since it's very beautiful and efficient, you chose the panel views very well.

Can't wait for more if you have in stock or you feel like continuing, if you don't feel like it then it's OK (but I hope to know if she finds a way out of the loop of monotony and unhappiness.)

Hi! I'm following daily this story since you started posting. I think is so beautiful, deep and meaningful. Reading it makes me feel lot of different emotions, from determination to melancholia. The main character has an intriguing and lovely personality with that cute shy touch that make her like a little puzzle piece that tries to fit. Also, the drawing is sublime. Awesome anatomy, very expressive and delicated. I adore it, please keep working on this. It's the kind of project I'd love to have in my shells. Congratulations for your enormous talent.
